PAULINHO VICENTE

Brazilian drummer Paulinho Vicente has been actively building his career in music since graduating in 2020 and concluding his Masters in 2024, both at Unicamp. He has played alongside great names of Brazil’s instrumental music such as Toninho Horta, Yuri Popoff, Claudio Roditti, João Bosco, Maestro Spok, Lito Robledo, Alexandre Mihanovich, Wilson Teixeira, Filó Machado, Enéias Xavier, Daniel D’Alcântara, Luiz Mello, Silvia Góes, Roberto Sion, Bruno Cardozo, Michel Leme, Sizão Machado, Thiago Espírito Santo, Daniel Santiago, Michael Pipoquinha, and Mestrinho.

 

In recording sessions and/or concerts he has played with: Izzy Gordon, Wanda Sá, Vanessa Moreno, Agnaldo Rayol, Clara Moreno, Carla Casarim, Joyce Moreno, Dominguinhos, Anna Setton, Ceu, Paula Lima, Fernanda Abreu, Vitor Kley, Roberta Campos, Simoninha, Xande de Pilares, Jairzinho, Roberta Miranda, Jane Duboc, Luiz Carlos Sá, Renato Teixeira, Arthur Verocai, Ellen Oléria and many more. He has also played with renowned names in the international instrumental scene, such as European saxophonists Baptiste Herbin (FRA), Lukas Pfeil (GER) and German bassist Jens Lo. He has performed together with Cuban musician Felipe Lamoglia and North American artists: Ted Nash, Marcus Printup, Chad Lefkowitz, Jake Kelberman, Scott Belck, Trent Austin, Woody Witt, Ryan Keberle (with whom he recorded two albums “Sonhos da Esquina - Ryan Keberle’s Collectiv do Brasil” and “Considerando”, released in late 2023), Alejandro Aviles, Bob Shew, Davy Mooney, (with whom he recorded the album “Way Back”, released in the second half of 2023), John Ellis, Alison Crocket and Ohad Talmor.

 

He has performed at festivals in Brazil and Latin America, in addition to his visit to the USA in August 2019. The trio composed of Paulinho Vicente, Felipe Silveira (piano) and Thiago Alves (acoustic bass), performed shows and masterclasses in the cities of Denton, Austin, Houston and Pasadena, in the state of Texas, and shows in New York with Ryan Keberle. In November 2023, the trio returned to the country to undertake a new tour, this time with stops in the cities of Denver, Amarillo, Dallas, Denton, Honesdale and again New York with a show at the internationally renowned jazz club Smalls. On another occasion, in July 2022, he was in New York for the recording of pianist Dan Costa’s album Beams, alongside important jazz names such as John Patitucci, Dave Douglas, Mike Stern, Dave Liebman and Hermeto Paschoal.
